The Dulcimer Gathering of the Lafayette, Indiana Area
The Dulcimer Gathering is a loosely organized group of mountain and hammered dulcimer players who have been playing together since 1985. We gather together to learn new songs and to entertain ourselves and others.
During the cooler months from September to May we meet indoors at the Tippecanoe Arts Federation building at the corner of North Street and Seventh Street in Lafayette to learn new songs and techniques, and just enjoy playing together. We also do occasional gigs at nursing and retirement homes.
In the warmer months of June through August we have for years met in outdoor venues and invited other acoustic instrument players to join us, again to entertain ourselves as well as anyone who might be passing by or choose to come hear our music. Over the years we have done this at Fort Ouiatenon, in the middle of the John Myer Pedestrian Bridge, the Riehle Plaza, the plaza at the west end of the West Lafayette Public Library, and are currently meeting at Centennial Park in Lafayette. (Click the “Join Us” tab for details.)
It’s a fun and casual jam. Bring your dulcimer, or other instrument, and come join us.
